Noongar Country Exhibition

Noongar Country 2016 - Resilience

Noongar Country is an annual exhibition hosted by Bunbury Regional Art Galleries, open to all Indigenous artists residing on Noongar Country. The exhibition invites senior artists, emerging artists and community groups to submit works on a chosen theme, to celebrate the talent and diversity of local Indigenous artists and their stories. Noongar Country offers artists the opportunity to extend their practice by interpreting a theme, exhibit their artwork for sale, and share in BRAG’s goal of promoting high quality Indigenous art to a contemporary audience.

This year’s theme is Resilience. Artists may interpret the theme in any way they desire.

Entries for the 2016 exhibition are now open to all Indigenous Artists residing on Noongar Country.  Enter online or download the application pack here

Art and Alzheimer’s

The Art and Alzheimer’s program at BRAG provides gallery tours for people who are living with dementia and their carers. Modelled on the National Gallery of Australia’s Art and Dementia program, the Art and Alzheimer’s program at BRAG was initiated in 2015.

The Art and Alzheimer’s tour program provides an opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Social inclusion and opportunities to demonstrate capabilities improves well-being and quality of life for people living with dementia.

Art and Alzheimer’s tours are participant driven, with tour guides facilitating conversation and discussion about a chosen artwork. Each tour group contains between 3 and 5 participants. Maintaining small group sizes ensures that each participant is able to engage with the artwork and the tour guides. This same group of participants returns to the gallery for a block of tours with the same group of tour guides, providing a sense of consistency and continuity.

BRAG is now accepting expressions of interest from Volunteers and Care Facilities who are interested in participating in the 2017 program.  Volunteers need to have excellent communication and listening skills and lots of patience, but experience working in the arts or with people who live with dementia is not a requirement.  BRAG will provide training for all new volunteers.

Download the Expression of interest form below for all the details and contact Education Officer Amber Norrish on 9792 7321 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with any questions.
