Making Her Mark: Women in the Collection

Location Ron Middleton Gallery
From Saturday 02 September 2017 -  10:00am
To Sunday 29 October 2017 - 04:00pm

This exhibition showcases a diverse range of work by Australian women artists from the City of Bunbury Art Collection and celebrates the contribution of female artist to the cultural landscape of our country and our state.

The works featured span a period from the 1970s to today and encompass a broad range of subject matter and style. Some of the works are strongly influenced by the Feminist movement of the 1970s and 80s -exploring gender issues and psychological states as well as questioning social roles and provoking the senses with a range of tactile materials.

Other works are more personal, referencing the joys and pains of the lived experiences of the artists. These more intimate and introspective works reference individual stories of love and loss and hold a sense of fragility and delicacy.

Together, the works in Making her Mark are about the examination of the feminine existence on multiple levels, interrogating both personal and social relationships to better understand the impact that they have on our world.
