Exploring Monotype | Printmaking Workshop with Helen Hulme-Gerrard and Sue Dennis

Friday 25 October 2019, 10:00am - 01:00pm

This is a fun and experimental workshop, perfect for both beginners (16+) as well as for the more advanced printmakers to add to their creative repertoire.

Monotype is a truly "painterly" form of printmaking and has been quite popular with printmakers and painters since its first invention. Differing from other printmaking processes, monotype prints are one-of-a-kind. They are generally made in a short amount of time and allow a variety of mark making and textural effects. The beauty of this media lays in its spontaneity and the combination of printmaking, painting and drawing, which allows for endless possibilities.

Students will explore and learn the following Monotype techniques:

The Dark and Light field
Gelatine Plate Printing
You will be given handouts explaining the various techniques including a recipe to make your own gelatin plates at home.

Cost of workshop is $15.00 per student plus booking fee.

All materials will be supplied . Some images and natural objects will be supplied however participants are encouraged to bring their own found objects such as leaves, feathers, etc, images to work from ie your visual diary or sketch book. Please bring an apron!

It is our aim to aim to ensure that after attending this workshop you will feel confident to continue using these printmaking processes and techniques in your own environment.
